- Is it obvious that Simple Crown is made from
foam after it is installed?
- No. It gives the appearance of real wood crown molding.
The decorative corner pieces actually gives a better look
than wood moldings that are mitered at the corners.
- Will Simple Crown come loose from the ceiling
or wall after a period of time?
- Since Simple Crown is so lightweight, it takes very
little adhesion to hold it permanently in place. The included
Loctite Power Grab adhesive, combined with proper caulking
of the joints and edges should be more than adequate to
hold in place.
- Do I have to caulk the edges?
- This depends on the straightness of the wall. Power
Grab is so strong that once it dries it is like "concrete"
and your installation is permanent. However if your walls
are uneven you may wish to caulk the upper & lower
edge to give it a more even look.
- Can I use Simple Crown without painting it?
- Like wood molding, Simple Crown must be painted to give
it a finished look. The unpainted foam is blue in color,
but is easily coated with latex primer and paint.
- Can I use oil-based paint on Simple Crown?
- NO. Oil based paints and solvents will damage the molding.
Only use a LATEX primer and paint.
- Can I install Simple Crown by myself or should
I have assistance?
- Simple Crown comes in four-foot sections and is so lightweight
that one person can easily install the molding without
assistance.
- My room measures 52 feet overall. Since a kit
contains 48 feet of molding, do I have to buy two complete
kits?
- No. We offer supplemental kits that contain four sections
of four-foot molding, which can be ordered separately.
- My room has two Out-Corners. Can Simple Crown
be mitered to accommodate these corners?
- Simple Crown could be mitered to accommodate Out-Corners;
however, we do offer Out-Corner kits that consist of two
eight inch sections or pre-mitered molding which eliminates
the need to miter the joints.
- How do I cut Simple Crown?
- Simple Crown can be cut to an exact length with a sharp
knife, like a utility knife. Cut from the front side of
the molding to the back to provide the smoothest cut.
- What tools and supplies are needed to install
Simple Crown?
- Latex primer
- Latex paint in your color choice
- Lightweight spackling compound to hide the joined
ends
- Latex caulking for top and bottom edges and corner
pieces
- Utility or sharp knife
- Pencil and straight edge
- Fine grade sandpaper to smooth spackled joined ends
- Ladder
